Just been watching Orange playlist - where famous types pick the songs which are significant to their lives..
I thought it would be nice to get a forum participation topic along these lines...
So...
PAST TRACKS - Childhood, teenage years, and growing up...
PRESENT TRACKS - Clubs, mates, relationships...
FUTURE TRACKS - Hopes, dreams and all that jazz..
I'll be back to add mine soon -after I have whittled them down!!
Feel free to add yours, it would be nice to have an insight into you all!! ;D

Past memories (i.e. mine turned into not just 'tracks')
My parents Motown/Stevie Wonder/Crosby Stiles & Nash/Paul Simon vinyl was my only source of tunes before...
Anything by Five Star (:-[my first music purchase). Aged about 7-8. Belinda Carlise (school-disco-tastic) "I Think We're Alone Now" Kylie & Jason "Especially For You" Rave '92 - some bonefide classics on this LP eg. The Prodigy - "Everybody In The Place", Liquid - "Sweet Harmony" & Urban Hype - "A Trip To Trumpton" Lads at school taping Stu Allen (hardcore/rave) mixes off Key 103 (Manchester) & playing them on walkmans bouncing round the school. Borrowing one off someone and not being at all into it/able to 'get it'. ;D Utah Saints - "Something Good" being just about the first credible music i can claim to have liked at the time. People claiming they were into 808 State & other rave stuff to appear cool. Aged about 11-13. My dad bringing me 6 "unofficial" Compact Discs back from China: 4 were Beatles compilations & the others were a Best of Jimi Hendrix - "Purple Haze" & Best of James Brown - "Papa's Got A Brand New Bag" Playing them all to death, lending them out eventually & never getting em back. Aged about 13-14. Listening to a DJ on Virgin Radio (Nick Abbott) who played The Cranberries, Blur, Oasis etc. Aged about 15-16. Oasis "Columbia (demo)" hitting the airwaves (Dec '93 only 500 copies of a promo were pressed). and Getting 'Definately Maybe' & 'Parklife' in one shop and the assistant commenting on not having heard of either of the bands. "Live Forever", "Rock N Roll Star", "Cigartettes & Alcohol", Slide Away" & "Whatever" being on constantly. By the end of 1994 there was only ONE band in the world as far as i was concerned! This didn't really change till i started working @ Safeway stacking shelves aged 16-17, where i met a DJ who played US House/Garage. Todd Terry - "Bounce To The Beat" Any number of Masters At Work records Bryon Stingley Gusto - "Disco's Revenge" Bucketheads - "The Bomb" (remember dancing to that celebrating an Everton FA Cup final win in 1995). Hooking Safeway mate (Av Acquilla) up with a gig playing our 6th form college party @ a club in Middlesbrough called The Arena (Tracey - a mate of mine has just bought the lease to this building and is reopening it in Sept). Also sorting the other DJ (Rick), who was a mates' older brother. Rick Smith playing first 2 hours ("i'm here to educate, Av's here to entertain") - i kid you not!! Av Acquilla played closing 2 hours (12-2) Highlights of Av's "party set" include: KenLou - "What a Sensation"/"Sensational Beats" (probably the one piece of vinyl i ALWAYS play when i get hold of Jamie's records) Maria Carey - "Dream Lover" (Morales mix) mixed into Josh Wink - "Higher State of Consciousness" mixed into Lil Louis - I'm Hot For You (accapella) mixed into Ce Ce Peniston - "Finally" (last tune, see what he did there?!?) Ruffnecks - "Everybody Be Somebody" (the encore tune) The Braxtons - The Boss (1997) DJ Sneak - "You Can't Hide From Your Bud" (1997) Deep Dish - "Junk Science" album - their last good work IMO (1998)
Must stop now, got a presentation to write! To be fair 24 is about to start so i'm off!!
