FLIGHT-18 Touching Down in Miami Album
When the Winter Music Conference asked Immigrant to co-host a WMC official event at the 2007 Miami Music Conference, we asked ourselves, “Miami? Do we have to?” We booked some talent you may have heard of: Matthew Dear, Adam Beyer, Miss Kittin, Slam, Anja Schneider, Ralf Kollmann, Robin Porter & Dave Martin (Hand On Throat), Drumcell and Acid Circus. Certainly not a line up to shake a flip flop at.
But we took it one step further and went on to compile an album to celebrate the whole event, showcasing some of Immigrant’s burgeoning talent.?
Matt – Robert De Mico
One for the more adventurous breakbeat DJs out there, as well as the house set. Intricate melodies flicker over immaculately programmed drums - 'Matt' is a perfect set-opener.
Just Dance – DJ Cocoe (featuring vocals by Mukwenda)
Showcasing the diversity of Immigrant, DJ Cocoe offers up a blissful slice of broken beat, where Mukwenda's wist-laden vocals ride atop shuffling rhythms and classy synth rises.
Red Box – Ludwig Coenen
Straight out of the Matthew Bushwacka! school of house music, 'Red Box' features a rock-solid groove slowly furnished with haunting riffs and snaking high-end -- purpose built for the darker moments in any discerning set.
A Veces Si, Otras No – Ferrante & Rosselot
Clanking beats and swelling FX propel this elaborately-titled, edgy piece of techno.
Made In Alaska – Ashique
The very definition of mood-setting, this offering from Ashique effortlessly combines rattling percussion and gentle melodies to stunning effect.
Zollamt – Fan Erhalder
'Zollamt' features raw, abrasive synths underpinned with rolling, techy drums to keep the 5am set crowd firmly on the floor.
Holiday In Hawaii – Manuel De Lorenzi
A superb blend of loose, shuffling bass and horseshoe percussion. So Hawaiian you can smell the coconuts!
Cuentos – Neurus Meyer
Blurring the lines between the organic and the electronic, Neurus Meyer turns in an off-kilter journey into the experimental side of dancefloor techno.
Tapage Nocturne – Digital Coalition – Lust Addict L.A. Spice Remix
L.A. Spice remix Digital Coalition's original into a rumbling slab of rubber-band house music sure to find favour with the likes of Switch and Jesse Rose.
Villaloca – Aldo Cadiz
A heady mix of dub-influenced stabs and razor-sharp electronic percussion, 'Villaloca' is forward-thinking techno of the highest order.
Stereomania – Vadim Lankov
Speaker-wobbling bass, playful synths, and pinpoint vocal edits drive this superb slice of genre-straddling electronic music.
Al Galope – Z@p
'Al Galope' sees thudding beats entwined with quirky, drip-drop percussion and slick, tech-house sensibilities. Undoubtably, this is one for the DC10 crowd to wrong out to.
