Howdy folks ... The new EIGHT-TRACKS 12" is just about out with advance copies now on the shelves at Primal and Tweekin (and a few at Juno, I believe). Here's the scoop from our recent newsletter:
We're gearing up for the second 12" release on EIGHT-TRACKS: the Funky Transport + JoneeQ feat. Lola - How Can U (Be So Far Away) EP. This tune by a collective of artists from Aberdeen, Scotland mixes deep bass + beats with some catchy + emotional songwriting. Featuring a fantastic vocal performance by Lola, “How Can U (Be So Far Away)” is sure to appeal to dancefloors across the board. The EP also includes a tweaky, jackin’ house mix by Q-Burns Abstract Message (NRK, Slip N' Slide, Doubledown), a funky and melancholy thumper by Atnarko + Sen – Sei (Tango, 20/20 Vision, Doubledown) and a techy deep mix with a touch of inspiration via Detroit by John Delerious (Nordic Trax). This will be officially released on vinyl in a few weeks. In the meantime, you can purchase limited pre-release copies at Tweekin Records and Primal Records. For more information or to listen to the tracks go to www.eight-tracks.com or visit us on MySpace at www.myspace.com/eighttracks
The first release on EIGHT-TRACKS by Cosmic Groove Transmission was a great success and is currently being played and enjoyed by DJs all over. The ultra-funky original track "Just Looking" and its remixed versions by Robbie Hardkiss and Q-Burns Abstract Message have been garnering much praise. We even got an unsolicited nod from classic Factory Records band A Certain Ratio for the chuggy 12" bonus track "Twisted Generation". This record is in stores now ... be sure to ask your local vinyl shop for it. If you're all 21st century-like and into the download world then you'll be pleased to know that this EP is available from most digital retailers. In fact, the online version of the EP contains a non-vinyl remix by our Dublin friends Prefuse and Nice + Nasty. Their mix is a futuristic UK breaks style funk bomb ... DJ Icey has been raving to us about it and playing it weekly on his Sirius radio show. By the way, if you are a press/reviewer, record store, or radio person and are interested in EIGHT-TRACKS then please get in touch via www.eight-tracks.com
Upcoming releases and remixes are planned from Sleazy McQueen, Gabriel Black, Brett Johnson, Andrew Phelan & Origami, and Formidable Force ... stay tuned.
Thanks for reading ... I hope you enjoy our sounds.
