So what the hell is this feast of musical brilliance all about I hear you ask? Well, everyday there is a rather large contingent of Leeds that actively post on the modern day enigma that is the 'internet forum', and chances are, if you're reading this, you are one of those people. Two of Leeds finest nights are responsible for these forums, in the shape of 'BackToBasics' and 'Technique'.
One day, a post appeared asking whether a few 'forumites' would be up for a DJ competition in the summer of 2005, just for a bit of fun. Well, well, well......that 'bit' of fun, is now a f**king whole load of fun, as what started off as a few mates having a mix off, has quickly escualated into a three night mini festival.
The opening two nights are to be the 'Heats' for the competition. The competition is open ONLY to recognised members of the basics and technique forums, so we can really see who does know their arse from their elbow in that little creative institution we call.....music. Six half hour heats on each of the two nights gives a limited twelve places for the competition itself, with one winner from each night going through to the final. Anyone wanting to enter who does not know the promoters personally should drop their CD in to Jay Kilka or Ste Roberts at Tribe Records in Leeds City Centre clearly marked 'DTN' and a brief biog. with contact details, by JULY 11TH at the very latest. All styles and genres considered that run parallel with the policies employed at basics and technique. In order to keep things as fair as possible, it will be vinyl only! Sorry CDJ guys.
To help the evenings festivities along, the residents of Leeds have really clubbed together to provide an awsome line up. None of the above really need an intoduction, you all know then, and what they are about. All that is left to do is get yourself down on Friday 15th July for a right summer session in the name of charity. Anyone not there will be reported directly to Geldof himself.
P.S. If any of these line ups tickle your taste buds, the final have you chomping at the bit.....TRUST US.
Door Tax a mere four pounds, all for CancerReseach on the door.
Come on guys, let's have it please, this money really does make a difference and the guys listed above really need a huge prop for doing this, big time.
Any questions or queries to dnt.tlk.net@hotmail.co.uk.
