a lil bit about them
Jonn Hawley and Heather Doble (AKA Sound Navigators) began DJing and producing together after being introduced by mutual friend, vocalist Javante Monet. Hailing from Milwaukee and Chicago respectively, Jonn and Heather's mutual drive and passion to create music has forged a unique partnership that is truly taking the dance music industry by storm.
Despite growing up in different states, the two Navigators share very similar backgrounds in music and dance. While Jonn grew up break-dancing in clubs around Milwaukee and Chicago, Heather spent most of her younger years formally practicing ballet. Both Heather and Jonn suffered injuries that ended their days of dancing. However, both have chosen to take their passion for music and use it to make others dance through their DJing and productions.
Jonn and Heather began DJing independently of one another over a decade ago. After DJing together for the first time at Eve in Milwaukee, Jonn and Heather both realized that their individual styles complimented one another in a way that grabbed the audience's attention. Soon after, the two took their love of house music into the studio and began to produce together. Working together at Foundation 75 Studios, the Navigator's first collaboration, "Salsaholic" quickly saw chart action amongst some of the industry's most notable DJs and producers. When asked what makes their partnership successful, the two agree that it is their common drive toward the same goal, passion for music and individual abilities that make this unique partnership work.
After working together for several years the duo's first official single, "The Vibe" was released on Olive Records. "The Vibe" was an instant success with a glowing review in URB Magazine and continuous play by such house legends as Derrick Carter and Mark Farina. Since the release of "The Vibe" the two have enjoyed successful releases on various house labels like, Blockhead, 3AM Recordings, DAE, Jackin' Tracks, Doubledown, Control, Quiet City, Utensil, Lingo, and Chillin Records.
Both Jonn and Heather agree that they feel extremely fortunate to be able to have success doing something they love. Along with DJing and producing together, Jonn and Heather have teamed up with Don Tinsley (Urban Jazz Naturals) to create record label Soul Fuel Recordings. Soul Fuel is the brain child of Jonn Hawley, who quickly added Doble and Tinsley to the project. The Soul Fuel team's goal is to offer dance music producers, musicians and vocalists a professional, respectable label to facilitate the exhibition of their art.
As is always the case, it's difficult to say exactly what's next for the Navigators. But without doubt one thing remains clear: Jonn and Heather are and will always be dedicated to their common goal of bringing new and exciting sounds into the world of house music.
