FISH GO DEEP & CHARLES WEBSTER FOR RE:PUBLIK DEC 26TH!
Re:Publik's 2006 started with Yousef, mid-way through the year they brought in two of the biggest names in house music, Mark Farina & Miguel Migs (first birthday party), not only that but they also gave the Waterford clubbers for the first time, Charles Webster , Halo (H-Foundation), Joey Youngman & Phil Weeks... Now how can that be topped before the end of 2006…Eh..Well maybe with CHARLES WEBSTER & FISH-GO-DEEP on St. Stephens Night, December 26th? ? That remains to be seen, but for sure the most anticipated gig in Waterford house calendar since Mark Farina will see the Re:Publik boyz be joined by two of the best house acts at this years Electric Picnic and indeed two acts who have made huge waves worldwide in 2006.
Fish Go Deep are currently riding high in the all the UK, Irish and European charts with the now classic 'Cure & The Cause ' which is doing the rounds on Mtv Dance, aswell as a full Irish chart release, and radio airplay on Today Fm, Beat 102-103 , BBC 1, and RTE Radio.
Greg Dowling & Shane Johnson have been visiting Waterford for over 10 years now, and each time they have proved what quality DJ's they are, with some breathtaking performances. In fact it was Shane Johnson who rocked a capacity crowd in Ten for Re:Publik last year on Stephens Night so we have deceided to bring him back this year only this time with Greg, for what will be their second Re:Publik show of 2006, after what can only be described as a very memorable summer Loft session on the June bank holiday weekend!. This time Greg & Shane will be joined by another guy who made huge strides in 2006. Charles Webster has been busy man this year, was the main resident for the hottest club in New York, CEILO, alongside Francois K & Louie Vega, not bad company indeed. Mr.Webster is one of the few real mould-breakers in an increasingly stale & predictable dance music world (though whether a man whose favorite artist is Rickie Lee Jones, and whose records ooze such soul and depth should really ever be pigeonholed as dance is another debate...).
Charles has sold over 100,000 albums without ever being considered 'mainstream' or having a major hit single, he has toured the world with a full (genuinely) live band,he has also DJ'd worldwide, playing regularly in every continent, without ever having had the need to be feted by the dance media as a flavor of the month, he's had the nous to have been running his own labels for years, frequently laying them to rest before they get tired and switching to other projects...he is comfortable making music at any tempo, straddles numerous genres (both real and imagined) and some of Charles music productions has hit the Tv screens with music on CSI amongst others.
Re:Publik residents Gavin Boyce & Paul Mac will be on support duties on what promises to be a night to remember as Re:Publik bow out of 2006 with a considerable bang!
Also on the night we introduce a 2nd alternative room if you want to rest you feet and grab a breather and beer this room will host all styles of alternative to dance, there will be a mixture of indie rock disco soul funk and classic 80's!!
