Sat night - arrived @ 1am, checked into apartment (that didn't have 2 bedrooms as booked - campbed/sofa in the lounge - wasn't happy), me & Jamie went to Es Vive hotel bar (where the other 2 joined us), where a girl from Leeds (Hatty Lovehearts) was DJing, few beers, bit of a dance, bed by 6am...
Sunday - got up about 11am, felt pretty ropey, went for a full english @ Mike's Kitchen, just round the corner, quality food, proper sausages/bacon etc and "Heinz Beans" (which was obviously advertised outside!). Wes swerved breakie. Wes/Paul went out @ midday, me & Jamie walked to Space @ 2pm, few beers, managed to get in free on Ben Watts guestlist which saved everyone 60 euros, had a decent crack on the sunset terrace to Jonathan Ulyesses, i didn't think i'd last past midnight, especially seing as the music on the new terrace was so dull (Smokin Jo, Hot Chip - DJ Set, Andy Cato [Groove Armada])....kept ducking up to the roof terrace for that Ben Wijay geezers chilled tunes, then out to the side room (off the new terrace) called El Salon, where Alfredo (old school Ibizian DJ) was playing some wicked stuff, loads of classics, proper house, re-edits of quality music etc....spent a lot of time in there - probably the highlight of the weekend musically. Ivan Smagghe & Jeff Mills were in the Discoteca, but i didn't really see them/stay in there longer than a few minutes at a time. By 1am, Jamie bailed back to apartment due to being so tired. i caved in @ 3.30am and went back (just as Ben Watt was due to start - which was a shame)...pretty much went straight to bed/sleep....Wes/Paul got in about 5am and straight to bed...they said Ben Watt had been really good, but they were seriously flagging after 16-17 hours in there!
Monday - I woke up about 11am, which was good, had a decent enough sleep, we all decided we wanted to get to Circo Loco by lunchtime due to the busyness later in the aft/evening...so, after a quick stop @ Mike's Kitchen for bacon/egg on toast, we got a taxi to Circo Loco @ DC10 for a day of full-on madness. Price has increased to 35 euros and NO free drink. Cheeky b@stards. The lineup showed no Luciano, no Villalobos and no other special guests we'd heard of....other than Damian Lazarus, who was playing b2b with Clive Henry (3-6pm). Lazarus/Henry was decent on the terrace, but it soon got unbareably busy/conjested...me & Jamie kept ducking out, going to the outside chillout area (previously the carpark/entrance), which is now fenced off, with benches and loads of people sitting around in the sun....it was cool out there, met loads of "interesting" people, loads of very scarey people too tho!...about 8-9pm we all started discussing leaving, it was so busy you couldn't really get onto the terrace..we ended up leaving and taking Wes back to the room. Me/Jamie/Paul went onto Bora Bora (after dropping Wes off in an illegal taxi) to have a few pints, get some food (omlette & chips) and listen to some dirty electro!....think i crashed and burned about 6am. The others not long after.
Tues - woke up at 2pm and apparently i'd kept Jamie up with my snoring till about midday, still, i felt quite refreshed now! Me & Paul went out for some food....got pizza at a place over the road, which was nice (and more beers from supermarket), then back to apartment for a crack with the lads....everyone feeling quite sorry for themselves by now....had a couple of spl1ffs, played pool with Wes & Paul, loser supposedly having to jump in the pool...everyone decided to jump into the freezing water in the end (it was 7.30pm by now)......all of a sudden it was 11pm and we hadn't packed for our 1.30am flight (this was checked with Wes, who had booked it)....got packed, then got illegal taxi to airport....on arrival at airport it turned out our flight hadn't changed to 1.30 (from its original 12.30) and we'd missed it! The email had said "Fri-Mon flights changed as follows...", we were flying Tues, so ours was unaffected. Gutted. Wes rang home and got his missus to book us 4 flights for the following day (lunchtime) into Doncaster (best we could get). 200 euros each. Taxi back to apartment (which was paid for till the morning luckily), everyone in a stinking mood by now and not really up for anything. Me, Paul & Jamie went scran, then me & Paul went for a couple of pints locally - Wes crashed on his bed, totally fuct off by the missed flight. bed for 4.30am.
Weds - Got up at 9 ish. Taxi to airport (made flight!) taxi back from Doncaster - £57.
So there you have it. All in all a quality laugh, some wicked sessions and i'm happy to say the nightmare end to the holiday was worth it!
Moral to the story - read the flight times properly and then double check them once you've sobered up!!!
