Come Together
Leeds - 29th August 2004
Good Greef and Promise are coming together once more for an event in Leeds on August bank holiday. They have of course been doing events together all this year, starting off with their collaboration on New Year's Day for the boat party, and then moving to Ikon in Newcastle for a one off event. They have worked together on a few different projects, but theior next two must be undoubtably their biggest undertakings to date.
Firstly on August 29th, the day after Creamfields and the last bank holiday of the year, Good Greef and Promise are set to take on Majestyk's nightclub in Leeds. Probably the biggest and most impressive nightclub in Leeds, it is also probably the most "cheesey" night club in Leeds. So on this sunday the Come Together crew will be converging on Leed's City Square, with an aim of changing the preconceptions of the club and to take full advantage of the amazing lighting and sound systems.
The line-up is of course a stonker, with both clubs bringing their residents along to play with some of the biggest names in Hard Dance and in Funky House (that new genre that does not want to go away!). Of course, it being in Leeds the Leeds faithfull are being treated to their firm favourites, Rob Tissera, and the The Trophy Twins from Kiss Da Funk. Also coming over from Liverpool are Garlands residents, Dave and Huey, all of them playing in the Funky room.
But then there's the main room, a massive room filled with the most state of the art lighting equipment and a massive DJ booth, it's a sight to be seen, and the last time I saw it for one was when Paul Oakenfold came to Leeds and this venue was the only venue in Yorkshire to be able to house his enormous following.
In the main room you'll get Eddie Halliwell, Lisa Lashes, Scot Project, The Tidy Boys, Rob Tissera, Nick Sentience (live), Riley and Durrant, Richard Tulip and Shan.
Eddie is the man of the moment, playing all over the world, loved from here to everywhere, he's become one of the most exciting, in demand and most technically admired DJs in the world, with people like Tiesto loving him. Then there's Miss Lisa Lashes, the queen of Hard Dance, the leader of the pack, the hardest lady in dance music, and Scot Project with his dread locks. Then you've got Rob Tissera doing his first of two sets of the night, Nick Sentience playing a live set, for the first time up here in the north, Riley and Durrant (the new trance maestros). And then there's Promise resident Ricahrd Tulip, and the return of Leeds born and bred local hero Shan. It's all set up for an amazing night in room 1, and it doesn't stop there...
Then there's the second room, hosted by Kiss Da Funk, and featuring Dave and Huey, Rob Tissera, The Trophy Twins, One Desire, Sonny Wharton, and Mark Deakin b2b Luke Nixon. A true funked up room of sexy ladies and power dressed men having a bit of a dance, if it's half as good as the monthly Kiss Da Funk events then this room will kick some seriously trendy arse...
So with two rooms of dance music and three of the most popular names in the North coming together to put on this one event, it certainly looks set to be a brilliant day out. This is probably going to be the last weekend of the summer, so get your dancing shoes on and come together in Leeds.
