Bubblegum - the night launched to take the spirit of the crazy post-Circus house parties and transfer it to the dancefloor is back in full swing (literally) in October.
Having braved the summer months by inviting (and kidnapping) guests like Yousef & Jacob London, Bubblegum now invites Jonene (AKA) Jonny Kaboom to the turntables of Liverpool’s no.1 underground music venue – The Magnet on Thursday 14th October.
Jonene first came to prominence as resident at Stompy Stomp, San Francisco’s legendary monthly parties playing along such esteemed talents as Derrick Carter & Mark Farina.
Soon gaining attention Jonny went on to hold residencies and gigs with Extra Strength DJ Company (playing alongside Little Louie Vega), Kit Kat (with Miguel Migs & DJ Garth) and 1015 Folsom (a residency he still holds to this day). He’s also previously toured Europe & Asia.
Production-wise you’ll no doubt have heard a Jonene track or two in your time. His work with Tony Senghore, Wally Callerio and Joey Youngman has garnered support from all the right areas of the underground House community (East Coast Boogiemen & DJ Sneak both licensed material for mix CD’s).
Now a major player in his own right Jonny has released material on the hugely respected Aroma records (‘Let it Go’ co-produced with JT Donaldson), runs Safe In Sound Music and holds a major stake in MP3 distribution company stompy.com carrying the on-line form of such labels as Gallery, Household, Icon, Om + many more.
Joining Jonene will be Bubblegum resident Sean McDermott opening things up with an extended set in the Main Room whilst Mike Burn (one of the men responsible for Bubblegum starting in the first place) makes his a long overdue debut joining Inbetween DJs for an extended 3 hour set in the Fishtank.
