Stylus head into the festive season and to the end of another year of excellent parties, welcoming back one of the most popular guests we have had, Parisian legend Mr Phil Ze Weeks. This will be Phil's hat trick of spinning at Stylus, and we hope it will be the best one yet, it's nearly a year since Phil was the guest at the New Years Eve party and we have been itching to get him back since. Joining Phil will be another previous guest in the form of Neil Bainbridge. Neil played an excellent warm up set back in March before Jimpster, and he impressed us so much we asked him back to take part in our seasonal shenanigans! Residents on deck duty will be Les and Scott.

Phil Weeks
DJ/producer Phil Weeks is a house music purist. His mixing is old school Chicago with a nu-school French flare going from the deepest house to the techiest. His production sounds like it could have been released in the 90's partly because he uses the same gear - 808's, 909's, 606's, even vintage keys. He prefers vinyl, likes his mixes dirty, and knows how to rock a crowd with a heavy hitting bass line. Phil Weeks is a house purist dedicated to bringing the world only proper house music with his DJing, his producing and his label, Robsoul Recordings.
A true lover of house music, Phil Weeks' DJ career started 10 years ago. With skills comparable to the best and crowd-pleasing track selection it wasn't long before Phil Weeks became a major player in the house music scene. He's played some of the world's most renowned venues like Queen's Club, Circus, Ministry of Sound, Back to Basics, and Stereo.
By 2000 he was ready for the next step and Robsoul Recordings was born. Originally the label was meant as an avenue for Phil to release his own tracks the way he wanted to and the success was more than he anticipated. Phil Weeks' early release "It Put Me Well" became classic in a couple of months. Phil Weeks is one of the worlds most sought after producers saving his best work for his label.
It wasn't long before this success lead to the decision to sign other artists to the label. Consequently Robsoul is now one of the world's most renowned and respected house music labels featuring some of the world's best like Derrick Carter, DJ Sneak, Mark Farina, David Duriez, No Assembly Firm, Fries and Bridges(his duo with Hector Moralez), and Chris Carrier. Releases are selling out in a time when many labels aren't able to keep afloat. But Phil Weeks' isn't one to brag about this. To him it's all about keeping proper house music alive. Which just goes to show Phil Weeks is a house purist.

Neil Bainbridge
At 22 Neil has been djing for 6 years. Starting at the age of 16 and getting a bug for dance music by listening to Danny Ramplings love groove dance party on Radio 1. Listening to and drawing influences from djs such as Derrick Carter, Dj Sneak, Daft Punk as well as the more soulful side of Jon Cutler, Miguel migs and masters at work.
Most of the first visits to shindig were spent either watching the dj all night or staring down from the balcony onto the setup to see what did what and checking out Scott and Scoobys warm-ups. After playing several of Newcastles bars, came an introduction to the promoters Scott, Scooby and rob through friend and then shindig promoter Jim Mawdsly, Neil set his sights to playing Newcastles most respected night. Like most breaks go Neil was asked to fill in on warm up duties upstairs in the loft and play stereo shindigs then warm up bar also in Newcastle.
After working at HMV, Neil opened Air Records, Newcastle s independent dance record shop. After 2 years in business, Neil and staff continue to serve the citys record buyers and a big list of visiting big name djs - keeping a close eye on the music scene on a daily basis and meeting lots of new people in the meantime. Playing a blend of US. house with a distinctive Chicago sound.
Neil has played with and warmed up for the likes of Danny Rampling, Tony Humphries, Justin Long, Fc Kahuna, Inland Knights, Phil Weeks, Chris Duckenfield, Ian Pooley, Hipp-e and Luke Solomon to name a few.
Summer 2006 saw Neil flying over to Chicago to guest alongside Justin Long and Natural Rhythm at his .dotbleep party at one of the citys best venues - Smartbar.
A lot of current influences coming from djs such as Mark Farina, Dj Heather Phil Weeks and Jake Childs - trying to create a mix perfect for the dance floor.
Having played at cities outside of Newcastle including Hull, and Lincoln alongside Mark Lowry, Neil is channeling his efforts into production.. After the debut ep on movim recordings under the alias Airgroove with mark, there are several other tracks and remixes underway as well as solo projects for Kolour Recordings, Baker Street and 3am Recordings. With Support from likes of Miles Maeda, Chuck Daniels, Swag and Derrick Carter.
Wether warming up or playing full set alongside the other residents Neil blends his jackin techy side with a more soulful funky groove.
